As a teacher at the Magnolia Science Academy Yunis sponsored teams of students that entered the JPL Invention Challenge. In 2008 he sponsored one team. In 2009 he sponsored one team. In 2010 he sponsored two teams and one of the teams finished first in the student category. He is an avid supporter of creativity and invention and taught his students how to be organized and goal oriented. He is an enthusiastic supporter of engineering and teaches the basics of engineering to all of his students.
